We have always been proud to support Help Refugees. And this year it feels all the more important. As the world reels from the pandemic and no one is too distant from the tragedy, it is increasingly clear that the whole human race is linked and that our problems are problems we face, and can only beat, together.
Many many people are uncertain for their own jobs, security and for the health and wellbeing of themselves, their friends and their families. Yet the communities that have fled war, violence and climate disasters are particularly vulnerable and need support now. Help refugees support local organisations to provides emergency aid and also to create long term solutions where they are most needed.
Thighs of Steel is annual fundraising relay ride from London to Athens. This year that is clearly not possible, so instead they are condensing their core elements (helping refugees, keeping active, being part of a community) into a safe adventure nearer to home: to collectively cover the distance around the world, in 40 days. So we're super keen to help out by joining this year's fundraising challenge, whilst abiding by social distancing that helps keep us all safe.
Alex will cycle a longer trip to work to clock 25km per day - making a total of 1000km by bike over 40 days. Meg (who will be 32 weeks pregnant at the start of this) will walk and cycle 100 miles over 40 days. If you can spare any pennies or pounds, we would be very grateful.
