Hello all!
I am running the London Marathon in April (my first ever marathon, eek!). After taking up running a few years ago, I have had a goal to complete a marathon before turning 30. So with that milestone quickly approaching, I thought I better get on with it!
26.2 miles is a distance I can’t quite imagine running yet, and to say I’m absolutely terrified is an understatement. But that is where the charity Choose Love comes in. Choose Love is focused on helping the ongoing refugee crisis worldwide, and who rely on fundraising to continue their vital support.
Having followed the charity since its inception in 2015, it was after reading the book 'Hope Not Fear' by Hassan Akkad that really enlightened me on the importance of charities like these in war torn countries and, in particular, the gruelling journey's thousands of refugees are forced to make after taking the impossible decision to flee their country. This book, along with other humanitarian crises the world is experiencing from Ukraine to Syria, are the reasons I want to help this incredible charity.
“Choose Love does whatever it takes to provide refugees and displaced people with everything from lifesaving search and rescue boats to food and legal advice. We elevate the voices and visibility of refugees and galvanise public support for agile community organisations providing vital support to refugees along migration routes globally”
This cause needs sustained attention and public support. Therefore, any donations, however big or small, would be greatly appreciated. Your generosity will provide food, clothing and shelter to the children and families that desperately need it.
