Hey everyone, Just to say THANK YOU so much for all the generous donations. We have now reached £55,000 in total, which is amazing! I completed the cycle on Saturday, …
Hi all,
On Saturday 18th September I will be joining the Thighs of Steel team on the last day of their colossal 2,400km, world record beating cycle ride across the South of the UK spelling out a GPS tracked REFUGEES WELCOME.
We'll be completing the 'e' of Welcome - a 148km day ride through Kent and ending in Dover, the point of entry to the UK for so many refugees and asylum seekers.
It's a beast of a ride, but will mark the end of a record-breaking message of refugee solidarity. With the current situation in Afghanistan, the money raised feels ever more vital.
Every single penny will go to two kinds of organisation, both of which work hard to offer refugees the welcome that our government withholds:
Legal support organisations that guide people through the complicated asylum system so that they can escape 'squalid' refugee camps around the world.
UK-based organisations that offer refugees the tools they might need as they start to rebuild their lives in this country, including vocational training, language lessons and psychological support.
Please donate if you can - even a few spare coins can help make all the difference!
